Why Saint Joseph, Michigan ?
Its where we were born, where we were raised, where we live, work, play, and hang our hat at night. Saint Joseph, located directly across the grand, beautiful, and ocean-like Lake Michigan, from Chicago, has been called Michigan's most romantic city, along with being know as the riviera of the midwest. For STJ Civies its a place of beauty, growth, rest, pursuing dreams, and self discovery. A place we are proud to call home, and one that we want everyone to know about.
What's the significance of civies ?
The dictionary describes civies as civilian clothes, as opposed to a uniform primarily worn by those who serve in the armed forces. Each and everyday we wear uniforms to work and show loyalty to the companies we represent, but when we change out of our uniforms, we put on our civies and these represent our tastes, our dreams, our likes, and our passions. These clothes represent the real us, they represent where we come from, and where we want to be, they aren't just about what we do, but who we are. So next time you put on your civies, make sure you put on your Saint Josef Civies and represent the city you love.
What do the 3 STJC symbols signify ?
All three symbol used to represent STJC have multiple meanings. The first meaning is that each represents Joseph of the Bible that he was a carpenter (hammer and saw) as well as a man of peace, virtue, holiness, innocence, and obedience to God (fleur-de-lis).
They are also symbols of the strengths of this city. As represented by the Carpenter Hammer, we believe our city to be one of strength, one of growth in every area of life, justice and taking a stand against injustices, and provision for others and ourselves. The Ancient Saw was a tool for cutting or separating and therefore we see it as a symbol for the city in the sense of a symbol of cultivation, refinement or always getting better, conviction and commitment to all we do, and expectation of hope that our lives and the lives of other can and will get better. And lastly the Fleur-De-Lis or a saintly version of a lily flower symbolizes the most physical aspect of our city in its beauty and because of the beauty and community we have the joy, rest, and peace that follows. That's what they mean to us, but what do they mean to you?
Why Josef with an f ?
Remembering where we have come from is required to propel us forward to leave our legacy to those who come after us. Saint Josef Civies chose to use an f rather than the ph in Joseph to honor the hard work and dedication of those that have prepared the way before us who have given everything to make a life for their families and have made it possible for companies like this to even exist. Thanks Dad, F. Josef, and Grandpa Josef. Love Austin Josef.
Who was Saint Josef ?
Saint Joseph was the adoptive father of Jesus Christ in the Bible. According to scriptures Joseph was an obedient, loyal man to a heavenly calling that could have easily ruined his reputation. Even with lineage dating back to a royal family, he was a faithful husband to Mary, a hard worker and a carpenter; a teacher, leader, and a father to Jesus guiding him to follow in the family business as he grew up, but not questioning his calling when his time to redeem the world had come.
